So, who are these 2 hip moms?
Well, it all started when two little niblets were both born at home by the same birthing team-- with different husbands (of course).. a day apart. We quickly grew to the notion of buying a carrier to keep our babies close to us. After all, the dishes just don't get washed automatically. The selections we found in the large chain stores were either extremely uncomfortable or there was so much padding, we couldn't find the kids! In our research, we found that there was more than what those large chain stores carried. We started out with a pouch sling and not only was it comfortable and cute-- it was a life-saver! Soon, we just had to get one for the hubbies so that they too could join in the great bonding experience-- and give us some much needed relief. :) The dads were so proud and many people complimented on the slings.
This brought on questions from on-lookers on where they could find these kind of carriers. It looked so comfy that they wished they could just crawl into the sling! It became apparent that there were limited resources in the Greater Puget Sound area for carriers and slings. Some had commented on how hard it was to use their sling and/or finding the right one that worked for them.
One day, while having lunch at the Cheesecake Factory in Bellevue, these 2 hip moms started brainstorming about starting a business gearing towards babies. We thought that we should carry necessities (slings, of course!) that we had a hard time finding. We were going to name it "Goober Monkey" after the nicknames of our two darlings. How fantastic!
After chewing on that.. goobermonkey.. goober monkey.. goobermonkey.. we thought "hmm.. it's catchy but what happens after we have more kids? So it was back to the drawing board. Then we had it. A name that also incorporated our business-- TWO HIP MOMS!!! Get it? Hip-- Carriers? (yes, a bit cheesy.)
Since then, we have fully enjoyed traveling around Seattle and consulting with our customers from across the world. It is such a pleasure meeting our customers and their adorable children and helping them to find the products that work best for them. Our "pop-trunk" business allow us the flexibility to meet at customer homes, coffee shops, our store in Excel Chiropractic and almost anywhere in between.
Every carrier that we carry, has been tested and approved by us. If we don't like it, we're not going to recommend it. That's not to say that what we have are the best out there-- it's just the ones that we love and want to share.
We've expanded our product line to include a selection of carrier styles as well as accessories that add to our uniqueness. We believe that there is a carrier for every occasion. Like shoes, you can never have too many. Our selection of carriers and items are hand picked to better serve you, our valued customer.
